Mendut Village

Desa Mendut adalah salah satu desa yang dilewati oleh rute Borobudur Marathon. Tim Tilik Ndeso menemukan beberapa wisata budaya dan kuliner yang bisa dikunjungi oleh runners!

1. Selain Candi Borobudur, ada Candi Mendut yang bisa dikunjungi runners saat Borobudur Marathon 2018. Menurut berbagai sumber, Candi Mendut berumur lebih tua daripada Candi Borobudur. Tidak hanya berlari dan berwisata, namun runners juga bisa belajar tentang sejarah.

2. Kalau biasanya makan sate dibakar, di desa Mendut kami menemukan sate yang di goreng! Sate goreng disajikan dengan kuah kecap dan sayuran seperti kol dan tomat. Enak dan segar!
Ada sate kambing dan ayam, juga tetap disediakan sate bakar. Sate Nak Djadi buka pukul 9 pagi sampai 8 malam.

3. Berawal dari pelatihan membatik oleh Batik Ghani, Ibu-Ibu PKK Desa Mendut terus tekun membatik dan kerap mengikuti pameran dan bazaar. Pada tahun 2014, batiknya dipesan oleh desainer untuk ikut dalam Jogja Fashion Week. Saat ini, mereka masih konsisten membatik dengan memberikan pelatihan kepada anak-anak SD Muhamadiyah Mendut.

Leather Crafts

If you happen to see leather craft in the form of shoes, bags, slippers and sandals in the area of Borobudur Temple, Mr. Fadlan is one of the biggest suppliers. Not only in the area of Borobudur, his creation was also sent to various regions in Indonesia.

Mr. Fadlan has been making leather crafts since the 90s. Started alone, now Pak Fadlan has employed 20 craftsmen.

In selling his creations, Mr. Fadlan sells at a very affordable price. “If someone buys and sells at higher price, that’s fine. That’s their fortune. I have enough.” he said.

Papringan Market

1 jam dari Magelang, Pasar Papringan di Temanggung diselenggarakan 2 kali dalam 1 bulan menurut penanggalan jawa. Setiap hari Minggu Wage dan Pon.

Pasar dibangun di lahan yang dulunya tempat pembuangan sampah. Bambu dianggap sebagai barang yang tidak berguna dan identik dengan jaman susah. Melalui Pasar Papringan, Pak Singgih ingin kembali membangun pengetahuan masyarakat bahwa apa yang ada di dalam desa itu baik, tidak usah melihat ke luar.

Pak Singgih yang juga pendiri Radio Magno dan Spedagi , Pasar Papringan dibangun untuk mengurangi kebosanan masyarakat desa akan kesederhanaan. “Pasar papringan dibuat sebagai endorsement bahwa produk yang dimiliki oleh orang desa itu bagus. Bahwa kesederhanaan menjadi luxury.” Di Pasar Papringan menggunakan bambu sebagai alat tukar. Pengunjung bisa menikmati berbagai masakan khas pedesaan, kerajinan bambu dan bernostalgia dengan mainan tempo dulu.

Bahan makan yang dijual berasal dari dalam desa, tidak mengandung MSG, dan tidak menggunakan kemasan plastik.

Rengginang, Jetkolet & Painting

Besides Mendut Village, runners will also pass through the Tingal Wetan Village. In this village, runners and tourists can enjoy typical snacks such as rengginang and jetkolet. There are also local painters whose work has been bought by the Danish Queen!

Since 1995, Mrs. Yatin has made rengginang. This homemade product has been sent to various regions in Indonesia, such as Semarang, Surabaya and Lampung.

Jetkolet is a typical Borobudur cassava chips and has a savory taste. Pak Pardi has been producing Jetkolet since 2014 and has been marketing it to all of Java.

15 years since Mas Isting Medi started painting. Currently, Mas Isting Medi has painted more than 200 paintings. One of his paintings was bought by the Queen of Denmark during a visit to Borobudur Marathon in 2014.

Souvenirs

Since 1997, Mr. Ipung has made various kinds of souvenirs.

Mr. Ipung uses waste material to be created into unique, high quality and valuable products.

One of his creations is “pensil gaul” . He sells his creation from Rp 2,000 to Rp 100,000. Mr. Ipung aslo supplies souvenirs for Amanjiwo.

Workshop Pak Ipung is located in Wanurejo Village.

Brambang Salam

After running, usually hunger strikes. 30 minutes from Borobudur Temple, there is a Brambang Salam which can be your lunch menu option!

Sop Iga Brambang Salam and Spicy Fried Chicken is worth a try!

Posong Coffee

In addition to Pasar Papringan, runners also can visit Kopi Posong in Temanggung, which is located between Mount Sindoro, Mount Sumbing, and Mount Prau.

We were acquainted with one of the coffee farmers, Mr. Tohang. According to him, the uniqueness of Posong Coffee is the distinctive taste of tobacco. Because it is planted in an area surrounded by tobacco land.

Currently, the posong coffee cultivation area has been certified by the government. This is very rare and difficult to get.
